Kitchen Reveal!!!

Here is the before. When we moved in the walls were painted two shades of greenish blue and tan above the cabinets on one wall. The cabinet boxes were painted the same color as the walls and the doors were painted cream. The floor had a tan generic sheet vinyl floor.

After

Here it is after my husband made the chandelier longer.

We put a 25" apron sink on a 36" base cabinet. This was ok because the countertop holds the sink. We did have to cut the two original drawers and make them into two small drawers (they no longer open we just crazy glued them to the base cabinet)

This has been a lot of work.

Here's what we did and a breakdown of costs.

1. Paint Cabinets & Walls Benjamin Moore - $100 paint and brushes
2. Ikea Black Countertops & Farmhouse Sink - $400
3. Price Pfister Faucet Home Depot - $140
4. Armstrong Vinyl Tile Lowes - $260
5. Tongue and Groove Beadboard Backsplash Home Depot- $60
6. 2 Ikea Chandeliers - $80

For a grand total of $1,020!!!!

We did buy a paint sprayer and compressor to spray that cabinets for $120 but since their are so many uses we'll have for them I didn't include it in the total.

Their are still a few small things to do. I will not love it until it has crown molding. But for now its a huge improvement.

Oh, oh, oh - I Love it! Our kitchen was blah and white and we went black on the cabinets too. The floor is still beige and I've been thinking checkboard, but was too afraid to try. Thanks for posting pictures - I'm sold. (Now ... where did you get your flooring?) (Pics of my kitchen to date for $100 so far ... thedirtyhalfdozen (dot) blogspot (dot) com.

You really did an amazing job! I want to paint our cabinets but am worried about the level of difficulty involved. The sprayer looks like it may have made a difference. Thanks so much for sharing!

What a statement you made in that room. It looks fabulous! Could I ask you where the island came from? I am looking for a narrow one and yours looks like it would fill the bill!

Your kitchen looks awesome...what a difference. I love the new paint colors and flooring. I wanted a farmhouse sink so bad when we remodeled last year but they were SO expensive. I never thought to look at IKEA!! Too late now!!

Fabulous job! :-)

Thanks everyone for the inspiring comments. I am visiting each and everyone of your blogs and truly excited at the response.

I was having doubts that it was too dark and I like the blue walls but don't love them yet.

I am having decorators block on Kitchen Canisters, a new toaster, curtains & a rug for in front of the sink and dishwasher.

Honeysuckle - The island came with the house. I have seen it in many online stores. Here's a link to one of the sites tht have it.

I am going to be doing a post on peel and stick tile tomorrow so stay tuned.

Janet, I love your kitchen! I just painted the cabinets in one of my bathrooms black and I think I might be leaning towards painting my kitchen cabinets black. Did you roll the paint on the cabinet frames and spray the doors? Or did you spray everything? I'm trying to figure out the logistics of how to do it all! I'm thinking of doing one bank of cabinets at a time so as not to tear up my kitchen completely. As someone who has lived through a kitchen remodel, do you think I should do it all at once or gradually?

Our kitchen is begging for remodel. My budget is not. My kitchen is in similar shape to what yours was. I can't wait to show your posts to my husband. For $1,000 I just might talk him into it. And I have always wanted diamond pattern floors. AND I love your sink.
