Halloween Yard Decor …. Part 1

We officially started decorating today. Today’s decor was inspired by Martha Stewart. A few years back she featured this witch on the cover of her magazine. She has tutorial on her webpage, which you can find here.

I am going to give a tutorial of what we did.

Our Supplies:

1. 2 sheets of 4’ by 8’ OSB or Plywood (1/2” thick or more)
2. New Jig Saw Blades (need sharp blades for precise cuts)
3. Repositionable Spray Adhesive
4. Conduits (Piping), Conduit Straps, and Screws
5. Black Paint
6. 60 Sheets of Printer Paper & Ink
7. Lantern & Tea Cup Hook
8. Broom (we are making a broom tomorrow)

First Print out the templates from Martha Stewart’s tutorial.

Line up the template on the sheet of wood. It is easier to line it up from the bottom first. Spray some of the repositionable adhesive on the board and place the the template on the board. Their are circles on each sheet to help you line it up.

Their will be some gaps in the lines doing it this way but it’s so much faster than cutting it out and taping it. Just touch up the lines before cutting.

Clamp board to the table and start cutting.

Peel off the paper, while posing for pictures.

The Happy Couple.

Now pose her all over your driveway for fun.

Paint both sides black. (ignore the big pothole in my driveway)

Repeat this process with the cats.

Paint everything and wait about 1 hour for it to dry.

Once dry attach the conduit bars to the back of each figure with the conduit straps and screws. Place in the yard and push the extended portion of the bar into the ground.

Attach a teacup hook to the left arm and hang a lantern.

Place a spotlight behind the display and adjust at dusk for an eerie look.

I love it. Tomorrow I will post how to make a broom and attach it to the witches other arm.

Garage Sale Makeovers

Who doesn’t need a red framed chalkboard? I can’t believe how great this turned out. This was sitting broken in a box labeled free at a garage sale. I didn’t know what I was going to do with it, but I knew I would love it!

Here it is before. I hated the fat chef pictures.

Remember this $5 frame I got a few weeks ago. Well I finally painted it and put a new picture in it.

What do you think? I had a beach photo enlarged at Wal-Mart.

The two smaller pictures are from home goods. Ignore the ugly couch, as soon as I hit the lotto it’s gone.

I haven’t started my curtains yet but I hope to do them today.
